March 13 1951
Bloody Tuesday

Martyrs of the GULP Movement Revolution at La Tante, St. David’s are John Duncan; Agatha and Snell Fraser .

They died during the nation wide demonstrations where many were mercilessly beaten, arrested without charge and some were shot and killed in the struggle of agricultural workers for better wages, improved working conditions, holidays and sick leave pay; for the use of mules and donkeys to carry the heavy produce from the fields to the estate yards instead of the use of women and for the use of pipe-borne water in places that would allow for drinking and domestic use.
